RAIDERS: 140.725
SALEM HIGH SCHOOL: 137.875

Farmington United Gymnastics capped off their perfect season by defeating Plymouth Salem 140.725 – 137.875 . The team dual record stands at 8-0. The team competes at Regionals on Saturday, March 2 at Lakeland High. If all goes well, they will travel to Rockford on March 8 and try to defend their championship last year.

For the seniors ( Kacey Noseworthy, Shelby Smith, Ava Farquhar, and Maddy Weiner) , it was a big occasion as they are the only group to go undefeated four years in a row since I started coaching in 1986. These seniors have never lost a dual meet- that is unbelievable. To be able to grind it out each meet over such a long period speaks volumes about their willingness to go all out consistently. It is not by accident that we have been successful over these years. .

To be All – State in gymnastics an individual must place in the top ten on any event at the State Meet during the individual competition. These girls have been successful at this level. Kacey was All -State her freshman year on Vault and the All-around (7th place). She tore her ACL her sophomore year but returned last year and was All-State on every event. She placed 3rd in the all-around competition – a huge accomplishment. Ava was All-State last year as a junior on vault and beam. Shelby was All-State last year on floor. I look forward to seeing what they might accomplish this year. Their toughness and attitudes regarding practice and competition are a coach’s dream. I owe them a big thank you for all they have brought to this program. They may just get all those Starbucks coffees I bet them on in practice.

Other gymnasts on the team who have the potential to be All- State this year are Elena Vargo, Allison Schultz, and Sydney Schultz. All three of these girls have posted some very high scores this year. Sydney was All-State last year as a freshman on the bars. Elena is our only Division 1 competitor on the team. She has placed 1st at all three invitationals this year in the all-around. She joined the team this year as a junior. I look forward to seeing how things go for her this year.

To qualify for the State Meet an individual must place in the top 8 at the Regional competition this Saturday. All individuals will compete on Saturday , March 9 at Rockford.
